About Wellroot
Overview
This website provides education on the need for foster care in Georgia along with training and step-by-step guidance on how to become a foster parent through Wellroot Family Services.
There are more than 10,000 children and young adults in Georgia’s foster care system who don’t know what a stable home feels like. As an agency of The United Methodist Church in North Georgia, Wellroot Family Services has developed programs designed to change this reality through faith-centered service and trauma-informed care. With a focus on supporting youth from infancy through early adulthood, Wellroot helps individuals – and their support systems – reach their potential through the encouragement and love of a healthy home and community.
Innovative Leadership in Child Welfare and Community Resiliency
For over 150 years, Wellroot Family Services has been leading the effort to transform the lives of children and families in Georgia. Through our evidence-based programs, Wellroot cares for and encourages the growth and healing of children, young adults, and families facing challenges or trauma in Georgia.
We provide support while equipping parents and caregivers with the tools and resources they need to strengthen their families and better navigate through the challenges they might be facing.

Why Foster Through Wellroot?
Georgia is currently experiencing a shortage of foster families. When children in the foster care system are placed outside of their community, it adds to their trauma, forcing them to leave friends and change schools. We need more compassionate adults to volunteer as foster parents. Help us reduce this additional trauma by opening your heart and home to a child in need.
Wellroot provides foster parents with intensive support through their assigned Foster Care Worker, our 24/7 on-call system, access to clothing, diapers, school supplies and baby equipment, and supplemental financial support through our incidental fund for enrichment for the children in their care.
