Rebecca and Erin Tucker’s journey as foster parents began in 2019, just one year after they got married. Although they initially thought they were too young to foster, their church community played a pivotal role in shaping their decision. A simple announcement about an information session sparked a conversation that changed their lives forever.
For Rebecca and Erin, fostering has been a deeply rewarding journey. In the five years since opening their home, they’ve cared for 19 children—ranging from infants to teenagers—and have seen firsthand how small acts of love can create life-changing impacts.

What has sustained the Tuckers through their journey is the unwavering support of their community. Their family, friends, and church have rallied around them, offering meals, babysitting, words of encouragement, and prayers. These acts of kindness have made the challenges of fostering easier to bear and have reinforced the importance of a strong support network.

“Wellroot has been such a key part of our journey,” Rebecca shared. “Between the training, the caseworker support, and the resources, we’ve never felt alone. But even beyond that, having our church family and friends constantly cheering us on has made all the difference. They’ve been there in the highs and the lows.”

Community involvement has not only provided emotional and practical support to the Tuckers but has also enriched the lives of the children in their care. Church volunteers have helped celebrate birthdays, provided enrichment activities and school supplies, ensuring that the children feel seen and valued.

As Rebecca and Erin reflect on their journey, they remain deeply grateful for the love and encouragement they’ve received. “Fostering has transformed our lives in ways we never expected,” Rebecca said. “But it’s not something we’ve done alone. Our community has been right there with us, and that’s made all the difference.”

By working together, communities can provide the support foster families need to thrive, ensuring that children receive the love, stability, and care they deserve.
